Post Graduation Planning

Post graduation and college planning at Greenwood

Each student at Greenwood is unique and gets highly individualized and specialized counseling to help them prepare, choose, apply and then move onto to any number of post secondary opportunities. Jeff Dvorak our college and career counselor works individually with each young man and their family to help find the best fit for them once they graduate high school at Greenwood.

Jeff works with the faculty and staff to do a comprehensive evaluation of each Greenwood student to help determine college readiness, career interests and personal desire to create a post secondary plan. Students who are ready and would like to go on to a four college, get full assistance with preparing and taking (with necessary accommodations) the ACT or SAT test, creating a list of appropriate colleges, filling out all the application and then deciding which college to attend.

Students who may not be ready to attend a four-year college or wish to take a different path after graduation will work with Jeff to create a list of alternative options.

About Jeff Dvorak

Jeff DvorakJeff Dvorak grew up on Long Island, NY and after finishing high school there, did a gap year with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and The Student Conservation Association (SCA). His love of the outdoors led him to stay out west and attend the University of Montana. After graduation with a BA in Journalism and English, he began his education career working with at-risk youth—first in a therapeutic wilderness program in Idaho and then creating and directing a service-learning program in Costa Rica for a therapeutic boarding school based in Western Massachusetts.

Jeff returned to school and after completing a Masters of Education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Jeff worked as public school English teacher and then an administrator, while simultaneously enrolling in a doctoral program in Special Education Leadership. Subsequent positions included a post as Assistant Principal in London, England and then five years as a 6-12th grade college counselor for the San Francisco Public School District. For the last six years, he has worked for The University of California, Berkeley as a freshman application reader, a position that has afforded him insight not only into what top universities are looking for, but more importantly what separates one great student from thousands of other high-performing applicants. Jeff continues to read thousands of applications ever year for UC Berkeley.
