The Greenwood School: The Preeminent Boarding School for Boys with Learning Differences

The Campus

dorm in the snow The Greenwood School campus is located in southeastern Vermont in the rural township of Putney (get directions). Our campus overlooks the Connecticut River Valley and the mountains of nearby New Hampshire. The school owns 100 acres of rolling fields and woodland, including a two-acre pond, and is surrounded by several hundred acres of privately owned forest. The original campus housed a program called The Experiment in International Living, which started in the 1930’s. When the Experiment moved to nearby Brattleboro in 1978, the facility was rented to Greenwood and its purchase was arranged in 1981. Through the generosity of parents and friends, many new buildings and spaces have been constructed, including: an art/science wing, faculty residences, dining hall, and multipurpose recreation classroom building that houses a full sized gymnasium and climbing wall.
