  • Director of Facilities

    Job Description
    The Greenwood School is currently looking for a full-time Director of Facilities to manage the maintenance operations of the school’s campus and fleet of vehicles.

    Job Responsibilities
    • Manage the daily operations and work alongside the maintenance and housekeeping crew, as well as any tradesmen, outside vendors, and service companies to ensure that quality of work and deadlines are met
    • Perform comprehensive building inspections to identify items needing repair or correction
    • Develop plans and options for immediate, deferred, and long-term maintenance goals, timelines and approach to needed/planned/scheduled building renovations, repairs, and alterations
    • Respond to emergency issues as they arise
    • Record the water meter readings and perform water testing 
    • Periodically inspect and ensure all tools, equipment, and buildings meet OSHA safety standards and are well-functioning
    • Manage the inspection, repairs and maintenance of the school’s vehicles
    • Support the educational programs of the school by mentoring students and overseeing the student work program
    • Maintain positive and professional relationships with all school personnel and the Town of Putney officials
    • Any other duties assigned by the Head of School or Director of Finance and Operations
    Minimum  Requirements
    • Ten years of prior experience in the disciplines of facilities management
    • Management or supervisor experience preferred
    • The ability to respond to complaints and inquiries in a professional and timely manner
    • Experience utilizing Google applications (Gmail, Docs, Calendar), Excel, etc.
    • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge and ability to work in all trades: carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, grounds keeping, roofing, and housekeeping
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with changing priorities
    Preferred Requirements
    • A current Vermont Type II driver’s license endorsement (or the ability to obtain)
    • State of Vermont Water Operator certification (or the ability to obtain)
    • Knowledge of the State of Vermont Act 250 permitting process

  • Language Specialist

    Job Description

    The Greenwood School is seeking a Literacy Specialist preferably with an advanced certification in the Orton Gillingham instructional methodology to join our Language Literacy Department. 

    The Greenwood School in Vermont is a boarding and day school for boys in grades six through twelve. For over forty years Greenwood has empowered talented young people who face dyslexia and other related language-based learning differences, attentional, and executive function challenges. 

    Our staff of skilled professionals teach the necessary foundations in reading and other areas of academics to bridge the gap between a student's outstanding promise and current skills.

    Job Requirements

    • Plan and teach 5 fifty-five minute/day  academic sessions in the areas of structured language and reading
    • Administer assessments and progress monitoring tools to measure progress and develop student academic goals in reading and writing
    • Provide written reports three times a year to parents documenting student strengths, challenges, and current levels of performance 
    • Attend weekly faculty meetings, conferences, informational meetings, school events, and professional growth activities as required
    The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
    • Have the desire to work collaboratively with a team of educators who are committed to ongoing professional development and advancement of one’s teaching practice
    • Bring a positive attitude and curiosity towards problem solving to best understand and meet the needs of each student
    • Prioritize authentic, supportive connection with your students and their families
    • Be able to work flexibly between in-person and remote learning as current Covid-19 guidance dictates
    • Have an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in special education or related field
    • Be trained and certified in Orton-Gillingham or an Orton-Gillingham based program and have experience implementing the program with individuals or small groupsBe familiar with profiling students according to their strengths and challenges
